See you soon, Ron and Rose |
October 11, 2011:
Hello everyone,
Our chestnuts are plentiful and are fun to pick in our orchard, come and see for yourself. Chestnuts are a great healthy snack, especially roasted over a fall camp fire. They are lower in fat than other nuts.
We have instructions at the farm for roasting chestnuts, weather roasting them on an open fire or with the convenience of your micro wave oven. They're a tasty compliment when added to cooked vegetables and meat dishes. We also have already picked chestnuts available.
Our fall raspberries are still available along with a good selection of pumpkins, winter squash, gourds and straw bales. Please call the farm for information.
I hope everyone has been able to enjoy this great October weather, it's been fantastic! Of course we all know it won't last, but at least we should be enjoying it
while we can. Ron and I did take a short kayak trip at a nearby lake, the colors of the trees and quietness of the lake were awesome!
.
Prices for chestnuts are:
pick your own $2.50 per pound
already picked chestnuts:
one to four pounds $4.00 per pound
five or more pound $3.50 per pound
